Privacy Policy
Clean Image Exporter is built so your images never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what that means and the small amount of data we do handle — for the website, the online editor, the Chrome extension and Pro purchases.
Last updated: October 9, 2026
The short version. Your images are processed locally in your browser and are never uploaded to us. You don’t need an account. If you buy Pro, payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number. The extension only contacts removeai.online to check a Pro license key. We use Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner, and we don’t sell data.
1. Who we are
Clean Image Exporter (“we”, “us”) provides the website and online editor at removeai.online and the Clean Image Exporter browser extension (together, the “Service”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: support@removeai.online.
2. Your images
When you add images — by choosing files, dragging, pasting, entering a URL or using the extension’s right-click menu — they are decoded and re-exported by code running in your own browser.
- Images are never uploaded to our servers or to any third party.
- We cannot see your images, their file names or their metadata (EXIF, GPS location, camera details, C2PA Content Credentials, AI-generation tags, etc.).
- Exported files are created in your browser and saved directly to your device.
- Images held in memory are discarded when you close the editor or the tab.
Image URLs. If you add an image by URL, or right-click an image on a website and open it in the extension, your browser downloads that image directly from the website that hosts it. That website may see your IP address and standard browser information, as with any normal visit. The request does not go through our servers.
3. Data we handle
| Data | Purpose | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Technical request logs (IP address, browser user agent, page or API endpoint, time) | Delivering the website and API, security, abuse prevention | Our hosting provider (Vercel), automatically |
| Daily export counter (date and number of exports) | Applying the free plan limit of 5 exports per day | Only on your device (browser or extension storage). Never sent to us |
| Export settings | Remembering your choices | Only on your device |
| Purchase data: email address, name, billing country/address, payment method, transaction and subscription details | Processing payments, invoices, taxes, subscriptions, refunds and fraud prevention | Stripe. We can see your email, plan, payment status and invoices in Stripe; we never receive your full card number |
| License key and the Stripe customer ID it contains | Activating and verifying Pro | On your device; checked against Stripe when you activate a key and about once a day |
| Website analytics (pages visited, button clicks, which online editor features and settings you use and how many images you add or export, clicks on “Add to Chrome”, checkout starts and purchases, referring site or ad campaign, approximate location, device and browser). Only with your consent; without it, Google receives cookieless signals with no identifiers | Understanding how visitors find and use the website and measuring our advertising | Google Analytics 4 (Google). Retained for 14 months |
| Emails you send us (address and message content) | Answering support and contact requests | Our email inbox |
We do not create user accounts, build profiles, or collect special categories of personal data. Analytics never includes your images, file names or image metadata. We do not sell or rent personal data.
4. Payments and licenses
Pro plans are purchased through Stripe Checkout. Stripe collects and processes your payment details as an independent controller and payment processor, and may use them for fraud prevention under its own privacy policy. After purchase, Stripe returns to us your email address, plan and payment status, and we generate a license key (starting with CIE-).
The license key contains your Stripe customer ID and the plan, signed so it cannot be forged. It is stored in your browser (and in the extension, if installed). To check that a subscription is still active, the editor and the extension send the key to removeai.online/api/verify when you activate it and about once a day; we look up the status in Stripe and return “valid” or “not valid”. No images, browsing data or usage data are sent with this check.
When you open “Manage your subscription”, your key is sent to us to create a secure Stripe Customer Portal session, where you can cancel, change your card or download invoices.
5. Chrome extension
The extension follows the same local-only design. Here is what each permission is used for:
| Permission | How it is used |
|---|---|
contextMenus | Adds “Open image in Clean Image Exporter” to the right-click menu on images. |
downloads | Saves exported images to your Downloads folder when you click Export. |
storage | Keeps your license key, plan status and daily export counter on your device. |
| Optional site access | Not granted at install. If a site blocks an image you chose to import, the extension asks your permission for that one site so it can fetch the image and re-export it locally. Pages are not read or modified. |
| Content script on removeai.online/success | Reads the license key shown on our purchase confirmation page and saves it, so Pro activates without copy-pasting. It runs on no other page. |
The extension does not collect browsing history, page content, keystrokes or analytics, does not use remote code, and only sends data to removeai.online for license activation and verification as described above.
The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: data is used only to provide the extension’s single purpose, is not transferred to third parties except as needed to verify a purchase (Stripe), is not used for advertising, and is not read by humans except with your consent for support.
6. Cookies and local storage
Analytics cookies (optional). The website uses Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode. Analytics and advertising cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) are set only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and Google only receives cookieless signals without identifiers, which it uses for aggregated, modelled measurement. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. The extension contains no analytics.
Necessary storage. The website uses your browser’s local storage, and the extension uses extension storage, for strictly necessary functions: your license key, plan status, daily export counter, settings and your cookie choice. You can delete this data at any time by clearing site data for removeai.online or removing the extension. Stripe Checkout, which opens on Stripe’s own domain, may set its own cookies for security and fraud prevention.
7. Service providers
- Vercel Inc. — website and API hosting.
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions, invoices, taxes and the customer portal.
- Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC — website analytics and ad measurement (Google Analytics 4), only with your consent, under Google’s business data terms.
- Our email provider — receiving and answering messages.
- Google — if you install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, under Google’s Privacy Policy.
Some providers process data in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing purchases, issuing and verifying licenses, managing subscriptions and answering support requests about them.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — keeping invoices and transaction records for tax and accounting.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — request logs for security, fraud and abuse prevention, and answering general messages.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive) — analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time via “Cookie settings”.
- Storage on your device is strictly necessary for the service you request.
9. Data retention
- Images: never received, so never retained.
- Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics.
- Request logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period, typically up to 30 days.
- Purchase and invoice records: as long as your subscription is active and then as required by tax and accounting law (generally up to 10 years).
- Support emails: as long as needed to resolve your request, and generally no longer than 24 months.
- Device storage: until you clear it or uninstall the extension.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Email support@removeai.online — include your purchase email or license key so we can find your records. We respond within one month. Some records must be kept for legal reasons even after a deletion request.
You can also complain to your data protection authority. In France this is the CNIL.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA and do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use aggregated analytics to measure our own ad campaigns.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and purchases require an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
The website and API use HTTPS. License keys are signed with a secret key, payments run on Stripe’s PCI-DSS certified infrastructure, and keeping images on your device means they cannot be exposed by us. Keep your license key private: anyone who has it can use your Pro plan and open your subscription portal.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when the Service changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced on the website or in the extension.
